It's a St. Pittie's Day Parade!

Our St. Pitties Day Blessing for Every Animal in Our Care

May your walks have ample sniffing opportunities.
May a friendly companion be always at your side.
May treats rain freely from bottomless pockets,
tender scritches feel sweet against your cheek;
May you find a family who loves you,
in spite of our corny limericks this week.

Asher
7 years old

I'm a friendly, sweet guy who's looking for my own pot o' gold - a family who likes a lot of togetherness! Daily walks, plenty of playtime and snuggles would round out my new home wish list!

Chonk
2 years old

The name says it all! I'm a big brawny lad but don't let my massive size and loud snorting intimidate you!  I'm just a sweet and gentle giant with a mellow personality - and that's no blarney!

Rufus
12 years old

Go on, admit it - you've always had a soft spot for a distinguished gent in a sweater. I'm basically a grandpa in dog form and I'm here to melt your heart with one look at my sweet grey muzzled face, snuggly demeanor and sartorial flair. With a bit o' luck, I'll be buttoning up my cardigan and heading home with you soon!

Bailey
2 years old

Kiss me, I'm Bailey - a sweet, petite pittie mix dressed to impress in my little tuxedo! I'm the kind of lass who wants to be the center of your attention and will reward you with tons of cuddles and whiskery smooches.

Zeus
1 year old

Are you looking for a lithe and lively leprechaun to keep you on your toes? I'm the resident go-getter! I'm young, athletic and I'm looking for an adopter who can give me the all the exercise and engagement I need in my life. I'm ready to Riverdance on outta here!

Rocky
7 years old

Rocky go Bragh! I'm a mellow guy who likes to take walks and sniff to my heart's content. I'm also very affectionate and I LOVE to cuddle. Back rubs will get me dancin' a wee jig. P.S. I never met a treat I didn't like!

Bernie
10 years old

Are you feelin' lucky, well, are ya? If I was a human, I'd be that grumpy old guy yelling at kids to get off my lawn. I'd much rather be minding my own business, snuggled up to my family. You might be surprised to know that I still have quite a few zooomies up my proverbial sleeve - watch me now!

News from our Shelter Hospital and Community Vet Clinic

One of the most rewarding and humbling parts of our work is earning an animal's trust. One of our animal care staffers noted that Rex Kwon Do had some mild hair loss on his ears and asked our shelter med department to check it out.

We knew that Rex was a shy cat, so our shelter vet spent a little time letting him warm up during his in-room exam. He was a perfect gentleman and, by the end of his exam, he was demanding pets as payment for being so good!

Luckily, the issue was not serious and Handsome Rex was made available for adoption and found his forever home soon afterward. He is currently being a perfect gentleman for his new family. ❤️

Sweet little Rollie came to the CVC to have a mass removed from his neck. During his exam, we also realized that he needed to be neutered. What complicated the issue is that Rollie had a retained testicle (called cryptorchidism), which was found in his abdomen.

So, our CVC went to work getting him on the path to better health - the mass removal and neuter surgeries were a total success.

Before Rollie went home our vet tech Renee gave him a little haircut and gave him a custom outfit made from a sock. So chic!

As we continue to adapt and respond during these rapidly changing times, HSSC's Shelter Medicine and CVC programs are providing lifesaving procedures and surgeries. We are so grateful to have such dedicated medical professionals caring for the animals who need it most.

Any gift you can spare right now will do a world of good for our shelter animals and allow our medical and animal care teams to continue saving these precious lives.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

How You Can Help

Kitten Season is Coming!

Each year HSSC takes in hundreds of kittens and we care for them until they are healthy enough and old enough to find their forever homes.

As you can imagine, this requires lots of kitten supplies, especially Kitten Milk Replacer (KMR). This year, it will be especially important to have all the supplies we need to support our kitten fosters as they safely and remotely care for these precious babies. Thank you for helping to provide the essentials that these kittens will need on their journey to adoption!

THANK YOU! ❤❤

Help Us Raise the Roooof!!

We need to raise $200,000 to replace the roof on our Santa Rosa shelter!

Our Santa Rosa Shelter’s roof has protected the animals for many years. We’ve patched and repaired the leaky spots as they’ve cropped up, but the time has come: we need to replace our roof before the next rainy season. We made a promise to love and care for the animals when they have nowhere else to turn. Now, we’re turning to you to help us keep a roof over their heads – literally!

We can do this together!

Our animal-adoring friends at ARS Roofing have pulled out all the stops to get us an amazing "cool roof" with a lifetime guarantee to protect the animals and save us energy.

Now it's our turn to step up and do our part!

Every donation, big or small, brings us closer to our goal. Together we will continue to provide protection and comfort for the animals when they need us most.

❤️Thank you so much for your support! ❤️
