Amazing Animal Stories ◾ Giving (Tribute) Tuesday News! ◾ Gifts that Bring the Animals Joy

Fabulous HSSC Merch! ◾ Gratitude for All YOU Do ◾ And MORE….

November is Adopt-a-Senior-Pet Month!

What a difference you make for senior sweethearts like Coco, Elijah and Aristocat!

As we head into the holiday season, we’d like to “paws” and give thanks to YOU for being a beacon of hope for the animals! From bottle baby puppies and kitties to older animals, your compassion enables us to provide hope and second chances when they need it most - and for that, we are immensely grateful. This month we are highlighting a few of our sweet senior friends who are waiting so patiently for the comforts and companionship of home.

Please help us spread the word and let’s get them home for the holidays!

Coco

One look into those beautiful brown eyes and our hearts just melt! Coco is a spry 15-year-old lab mix who came to HSSC when her lifelong owner passed away. She gets along with cats and other dogs and LOVES people. She has the sweetest temperament and is an easy keeper. Coco thrives on lots of quality time with her people. She’s hoping to find a family who's home most of the time, who will help her feel safe and loved. Read more about this sweetheart here: https://humanesocietysoco.org/pets/coco-the-dog-2/

Aristocat

Get ready to cozy in for a long winter’s nap with Aristocat. Like Coco, this 8 ½ year-old beauty came to HSSC when her person passed away. True to her name, this easy-going gal is looking for a life where she can be pampered. Her throne of choice is a nice warm lap where she can happily curl up for ages, but a variety of soft cat beds are acceptable for those rare occasions when you need to stand up. Aristocat will demonstrate her affections by ‘singing’ to you with her unique and charming meow and will be a loving companion ever at your side. To make things even better, Aristocat’s adoption fee has been sponsored! Watch Aristocat soaking up the snuggles here:  https://humanesocietysoco.org/pets/aristocat-the-cat/

Elijah

Want to feel unconditionally loved? Elijah just wants to stare into your eyes and hang out by your side all day. This handsome 10-year-old is aging gracefully and will prove it to you with the pep in his step and his excited little bounces out the door when he takes his morning walk. He’s looking for that one special adopter who wants to give him all the love in the world that he completely deserves. He’s a gentle guy and appreciates a bit of play and a good nap or two throughout the day. Check out the cuteness here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9uLqgVhoeFA&t=20s, then give our Healdsburg Shelter a call to learn more! (707) 431-3386

Sterling

We have really taken a shine to Sterling’s big personality and we know you will too! At 9 years old, Sterling is full of energy. He loves chasing after wand toys and small fuzzy toy mice. He’s extremely loving and very cuddly. The ultimate Sterling moment is when he can sit in your lap and bat at a wand toy at the same time. He also likes treats! See this superstar in action here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTsEW1oZUnI

News from our Shelter Medicine Team

Meet Mindy and Beanie Baby ❤

These sweet kittens both have eyelid dysgenesis, a condition where the eyelid margin fails to form properly.

Mindy (the black kitty) needed surgery because her dysgenesis caused entropion (an inward rolling of the eyelid), which meant her eyelashes rubbed against her eye. Our experts in Shelter Med performed the surgery and she’s recovered so well she’s now available for adoption!

The medical journey for Beanie Baby (the tabby kitty) took a little bit longer. Dr. Lisa, our Director of Veterinary Services, reached out to Eye Care For Animals in Santa Rosa for help with his treatment. ECFA was amazing - a spot on their schedule opened up and they took Beanie Baby in for a free consultation! Thankfully, they determined this little fellow didn't need corrective surgery! Our Shelter Med team says he is comfortable and doing well with ongoing application of artificial tears.

Just as we were going to press, we found out that our super fabulous Beanie Baby was adopted by his forever home! What happy news!! ❤ ❤ ❤

Want to know more about our amazingly resilient little fur babies?

Our adoption counselors would LOVE to hear from you!!

Please give them a call at 707-542-0882!

News From Our Community Veterinary Clinic

CVC Cutie, Chewy!

This adorable little guy was referred to our Community Veterinary Clinic by TruVet, after being seen for blood in his urine. He was diagnosed with a bladder stone but his owner could not afford surgery to have it removed. He was started on antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medication to keep him comfortable until we could get him in for surgery a few days later. The surgery went well and he had a single stone removed from his bladder. We are currently awaiting results on the stone analysis, which will help determine treatment and prevention of future stones.

Our CVC is able to offer veterinary care at cost (or lower) for low-income members of our community who qualify for our services.

To support the CVC and help more animals just like Chewy, visit: https://humanesocietysoco.org/donate-to-the-community.../

🐾 Thank You! 🐾

In these challenging times, your support helps HSSC's Shelter Medicine and CVC programs provide lifesaving procedures and surgeries for animals in need.

Any gift you can spare right now will do a world of good for our shelter animals and allow our medical and animal care teams to continue saving these precious lives.

❤ THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT! ❤

Leave A Legacy of Love  ❤

For those of us who dearly love animals, the most meaningful gift we can offer is one that sustains their compassionate care into the future. Planned gifts to the Humane Society of Sonoma County have the power to do just that.

A bequest to HSSC in your will or trust protects the future of our donor-supported safe haven for animals. Every single gift means the world to animals desperate for hope, safety, comfort and the love of a forever home. Your kindness will live on in each one of their hearts – what a beautiful legacy of love.

As you work with your attorney, estate planner or financial advisor, please consider a charitable contribution to the Humane Society of Sonoma County. Many planned giving options offer significant tax benefits. For more information, please contact plocke@humanesocietysoco.org.

❤ Thank You! ❤
